What is a doula?
The term "doula" comes from the Greek word meaning "to serve" and is currently used to refer to a woman who is skilled in childbirth. A doula knows how to effectively support other women through the process of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
As a doula, my support extends to every woman, regardless of how she chooses to birth her baby. My goal as a doula is to ensure the mother feels safe and confident before, during, and after delivery. Having a trusted doula by your side, sharing your concerns and the unknkown is paramount.
